Restorative Yoga

Supported by various props, one experiences the yoga postures as profoundly relaxing and deeply rejuvenating. This is "healing through non-efforting." In the Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali it is said, “Posture must include the dual qualities of relaxation and alertness.” Through the practice of pratyahara (withdrawal or direction of the senses), this practice restores balance to the autonomic nervous system, greatly reducing stress. In our culture, great emphasis is placed on activity and movement. But health requires that we have an appropriate balance of activity and rest, movement and stillness. Restorative Yoga is a core practice which helps you to experience the ease which underlies active yoga practice.
